This article explores more in detail Rueben’s Baroque style. It states how some of the concepts in the drawing he did about Venus were shaped by Titian concepts.

This piece of literature was used in comparing Speight's ideas in the piece with the painting at hand. We used the piece to help critique the painting from the ideals of the women, which are presented in Speight's essay.

This piece of literature was used in critiquing the painting from the man's point of view during that time period. By looking at Swetnam's argument we were able to take some of his arguments about the woman and see if they adhered in this painting.
